Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, voiced his strong views on the ongoing political crisis in Rivers State, asserting that he is not intimidated by anyone, regardless of their power or background.
In footage shared by Symfoni TV, Wike emphasized his readiness to take action when necessary. He dismissed rumors suggesting he is seeking financial support from Rivers State, labeling them as outright lies. “I just left office as governor, and I am currently the Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT),” he stated. “I cannot be looking for money.”Addressing the impeachment threats against Governor Fubara, Wike clarified that the impeachment process is constitutional, not a military takeover. He assured that the political structure he and his allies established is secure.Wike made it clear that he will not be swayed by gossip and intends to adhere to his principles. “I've made it clear to everybody; I'm not here for any party.
I'm here for the interest of Nigerians and for the unity of this country. I'm still a PDP member; I've never hidden that position.”He added, “Yes, they have talked about the crisis in the state, but let me tell anybody who cares. Nobody can intimidate me, nobody. It doesn't matter; maybe you go and bring thugs on the road. It doesn't matter whether you say you are Ijaw.”“If I want to do something, I will do it.
Impeachment is not a military coup. Impeachment is provided under the constitution. I'm not interested in all these rumors on money; that's rubbish, absolute rubbish. I just left office; how many months ago? I'm an FCT Minister; what is money? But nobody can take away our political structure. I'm not a political ingrate, but don't touch the political structure of Rivers State.
