The Nigeria Police Force has arrested approximately 130 individuals, primarily Chinese and Malaysian nationals, for alleged involvement in high-level cybercrimes and activities threatening national security.According to Daily Post, the operation took place in the Jahi area of Abuja, where 87 males and 26 females were apprehended, alongside 17 identified Nigerians.According to Force spokesman Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the arrests followed a coordinated raid on a building at Next Cash and Carry in Jahi.
The suspects were reportedly using sophisticated equipment, including computers, to carry out their criminal activities.
The operation was led by Assistant Inspector-General of Police for Zone 7, AIG Benneth Igweh, with support from the Zone 7 Command and the National Cyber Crime Centre (NPF-NCCC).The police are currently conducting investigations and analyzing the exhibits collected during the raid.
The suspects will face charges in court once the investigations are complete.This crackdown highlights ongoing efforts by Nigerian authorities to combat cybercrime and safeguard national security in an increasingly digital landscape.
